LIGHT THE SACRED FIRE
The title track of the Kevin Finn Band's new EP, Wilderness+3, lopes along a bleak, barren landscape -- exactly the type traveled by Bonnie Prince Billy, Nick Cave and other purveyors of the eerily desolate. The local singer-songwriter has long demonstrated his skill with lonesome melodies and imagistic lyrics, but Finn's only recently teamed up with other prominent musicians on the local scene: Matt Miller (drums), Brad Kiefer (bass) and Greg Lagrosa (lead guitar). Other tracks on the EP include the gothic pulse of "Light the Sacred Fire" and the alt-country-tinged "24." Great stuff, and a bite-sized 15 minutes long.
